Christians have all the answers

Some think they do, some know they don’t, but . . .

We can all feel a bit lost at where our life is going, or perhaps something is happening that we don’t understand. When we speak to a Christian we sometimes expect them to know the answer as they must have some spiritual knowledge through their beliefs.

thinkingHave you ever thought why?

Seeking answers will help you find meaning, but with this in mind, Christians are humans with limitations, so don’t expect to get the answer first time. Humans can get it wrong, but there are great times when they get it right.

There is a man who was asked questions, some really difficult ones to catch him out. Every time though, he speaks honourably and truthfully.

Where are those questions and answers?

The biblical books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John is where you’ll see answers given by Jesus Christ. By all means, ask questions of Christians. Perhaps they might point you towards the answers? But also look for yourself and find out the context. People who regularly read, meet with other Christians and listen to Christian teaching will know more about what the Bible says than those who don’t.

Do you have to know all the answers before becoming a Christian?

Most things we want to do come about from learning and passing a test: When I learnt to drive, I learned the highway code so that I could answer all the questions—if I’d got too many wrong I would have failed. Christianity is not like a driving test. You don’t have to learn all the Bible first for God to pass you. He doesn’t chose us because we have earned it. He chooses us because he wants us. He will show us what he wants us to know . . . not what we want to know.
